“With this initiative, we are harnessing the power of the business community, academia and the public sector to jointly develop the knowledge city of the future. It is not just about more study places and strengthened research, but about creating opportunities for people and businesses to grow and flourish,” says Anders Rosberg, Executive Director at the Helsingborg Chamber of Commerce.
The foundation is part of a long-term initiative that builds on the cooperation agreement recently signed between the City of Helsingborg and Lund University. With a clear mandate and financial resources, the foundation aims to create the conditions for more study places, new research and stronger collaboration between academia, the business sector and the public sector. These initiatives may, for example, include PhD positions, trainee programmes, professorships and career-enhancing activities. Initially, the focus will be on areas with significant growth and skills needs, such as logistics and trade.
" We welcome the initiative. The business community’s strong commitment to Campus Helsingborg is highly valuable to Lund University, and we look forward to deeper collaboration with the Helsingborg Chamber of Commerce and the City of Helsingborg in the future. Collaboration across industries and sectors is vital to ensuring high-quality research and education,” says Charlotta Johnsson, Vice-Chancellor at Campus Helsingborg, Lund University.
About the initiative
- The aim is to establish a foundation where the returns can be used for various initiatives that enable new education and strengthened research at Lund University’s campus in Helsingborg. Examples of this could include funding new research, PhD students, trainee programmes, professorships, enhanced education, career-boosting activities, etc.
- The initiative will be used to meet the skills needs that arise over time in the region, initially in the existing fields of logistics and commerce.
- Initially, the Helsingborg Trade Association is taking the lead, but the ambition is to engage various stakeholders, both public and private.
