Education at the Department of Service Studies

The Department of Service Studies (SES) offers both bachelor's and master's programs relevant to retail and logistics. These are interdisciplinary in their approach and include both personnel and knowledge from social sciences (S-fak), engineering (LTH) and economics and management (E).
The bachelor's program in Service Management with a focus on retail integrates knowledge from business administration, human geography, sociology and ethnology. The bachelor's program in Service Management with a focus on logistics (Logistics Service Management) is run in collaboration with Lund University Faculty of Engineering (LTH). Both specializations are very popular and together they admit approximately 150 students annually. The different specializations are based on a common base that includes courses focused on the specifics of service businesses as well as traditional courses such as marketing, strategy and business development, organization and leadership, and accounting and financial management.
- Bachelor's program Service Management with a focus on retail
- Bachelor's program Logistics Service Management
At the master's level, there are two master's programs:
- Master's program with specialization in Retailing and Consumption
- Master's program with specialization in Supply Chain Management
Together, these programs enrolls approximately 50 students per year. In the same way as the bachelor's program, there is a common base here with an in-depth study of service management and specialization in a chosen area. The master's program is international and attracts many international students.
Overall, this means that between 500–550 students at undergraduate and graduate levels, at any given time, are undergoing training within the framework of retail and logistics.
